Document is "locked"?

When I try to type something it tells me the document is "locked". I'm not familiar with that.

Hi Ray,

If you're using MSWord it sounds like the file is open in some other program. If so, Word will see the document as locked. The Operating system restricts multiple access to certain types of documents.

Close everything (programs) and try opening the document again. If that doesn't work you can copy and past the original into a blank Word document and then make sure to save it with the original file name (or add a capital -B to the end of the filename); otherwise I'll have a hard time keeping track of what's what.
